The Edox Delfin Fleet 1650 Limited Edition 88004 BRZBU BUI is an exceptional watch that Edox has released to commemorate a research project that Edox is undertaking with Arqueonautas and Indonesia’s Bureau for the Protection of Cultural Heritage. This research project explores the Dutch Vereenigde Oost-Indische Compagnie (VOC) fleet that sunk on the coast of Indonesia on the reefs of Sulawesi in Southeast Sulawesi in March 1650. Edox has added some great features that match the theme perfectly; the 43mm case (49.5mm lug to lug) is made from CuSn8 bronze. Bronze has the great attribute that it builds up a layer of patina. This is an ongoing process which makes every watch unique. Discolouration is normal with this material. One major benefit is that you can largely bring back your watch in the original condition by using a Cape Cod cloth. Bronze was a material commonly used back in 1650.
The watch itself is very modern in terms of comfort: gorgeous domed sapphire glass with an AR coating, a Swiss Made automatic Edox Cal. 88 movement, a very comfortable rubber strap and an additional high quality nato strap. The watch itself is limited to just 200 pieces, which makes this is a unique chance to celebrate exploration, bronze and horology.
